Looks like we have poor leadership on both sides of immigration at the moment.  Biden caused the mess we're currently in, and Trump has no interest in bailing Biden out 7 months before the election.  His plan appears to be fixing it “his way” banking on complete control of House, Senate, and White House.  Then passing comprehensive immigration law that does not give whoever is current president the authority to open and close border at their leisure, which is how current senate bill is structured.  Trump’s plan may not pan out, but this is likely his logic.
